In the 2024 Lunar New Year, A Perfect Love Youth Organization hosted a red packet exchange event to raise funds in China and teach adopted Chinese Children about the cultural significance of the Red Packet.
This initiative created a meaningful bridge between tradition and identity for children who might otherwise feel disconnected from their cultural heritage. By experiencing the ritual of exchanging hongbao, not just as a transaction, but as a gesture of blessing and connection, these children could internalize a sense of belonging to Chinese culture.
The event also fostered intergenerational dialogue, as volunteers and community members shared personal stories about what red packets meant in their own families, transforming a fundraiser into an intimate cultural education experience.
